Growing up as a small boy in Portugal, Jose Santiago came to naturally respect
and appreciate the old world values and craftsmanship that were apparent in the many historic structures that
surrounded him. It was no great surprise when he decided to become a painter
himself, first in Portugal and later in Holland.
Emigrating to British Columbia in 1978, Jose started his own painting business,
dedicated to the quality and values of his youth. After relocating his family to
Oshawa in 1985, Santiag's Old Country Painting was founded, servicing both
residential and commercial clients throughout Durham Region.
Quickly gaining a reputation for professionalism and high quality, the business
thrived mainly on word of mouth. Demand for Santiag's services grew and
competent crew were hired to handle the painting, wood finishing, vinyl and
paper hanging, and colour scheme consulting. Santiag's expanded to Markham in
1999 and to Richmond Hill in 2000.
Today, the majority of new jobs come from repeat customers or referrals from
satisfied clients. Among the repeat clients are General Motors, Holiday Inn,
Pizza Pizza, Fairweather Stores and numerous residential customers who call on
Santiag's when redecorating, remodelling or relocating.
While no job is too small, Santiag's specialty is large-scale projects. With 7
vehicles on the road and full-time crews of 1 or 2 per job, Santiag's remains
committed to quick response to customers' needs and total customer satisfaction,
including starting and finishing every job on time and on budget. Santiag's
dedicated team consists of experienced professionals with from 5 to 17 years
tenure with the company. This solid foundation is testimony to the integrity of
Santiag's Old Country Painting.
